Interviews are absolutely crucial for everyone’s job applications. Employers can often get a good gauge of our character and interest through that 30 minutes to 1-hour long interview, which is why it is so important for us to leave a good lasting impression.

Today, we have put together the DOs and DON’Ts of a job interview that can make or break your job application.

1. Attire

What you wear often allows your interviewers to form their first impressions of you. Hence, it is important to dress according to the company you are applying for. In fact, it is always better to dress up than dress down.

2. How to act

Interviews are meant to test how you will react to challenges. It is crucial that you never lose your cool and stay calm when faced with a difficult or tricky question. It is also completely acceptable to ask for some time to think about your answer rather than rushing and saying something wrong.

3. Body language

Your body language is often a reflection of your character. In order to impress your interviewer, you should always present a confident body language.

4. What to ask

You should never leave an interview without asking anything about the company as it shows that you are not prepared and/or not interested in the company. Always do adequate research about the company before your interview so that you can go well-prepared with questions to ask your interviewers.

5. How to end off

How you end your interview is just as important as how you start it. To avoid coming off rude, you should always thank your interviewers and maintain your respectful disposition.
